Kristin & Ryan’s Wedding!

October 30, 2013

“Second star to the right and straight on ’til morning” -J.M. Barrie, Peter Pan

Remember Kristin and Ryan from their beautiful beach engagement session back in April [where we froze our butts off, for some AMAZING morning images :)].  Their October wedding was SOOO lovely.  Normally weddings are a lot of go-go-go, but I can honestly say their day was so smooth, and never rushed, and just so sweet!

Favorite things about this wedding: ‘Live Long and Trosper’ [Ryan’s last name :)], Kristin coming down the aisle with her dad to “Enterprising Young Men” [the theme song from Star Trek 2009 movie], gorgeous fall weather/leaves, super sweet bridal party, the star/space theme, the bridal party going out into the crowd to get the party started at the reception, and when I asked Ryan to tell Kristin why she makes the perfect spouse for him, and he told her, “you are beautiful and intelligent….” [I love a man who recognizes and loves intelligence in his spouse!].

You two made our job soooo easy!  Thanks so much for inviting us to be a part of your day!

ps: special thanks to Meg who second shot with me!

Most memorable moment?

K: My sister, Chelsea (also my matron of honour) brough a bottle of champagne, a box of strawberries, and two flutes for Ryan and myself right after the ceremony and after everyone else had already left. It was a great time to sit back and go, “Whew.” This paired with doing the first-look photos that Maike suggested really helped provide us with time to ourselves on such a busy, busy day.

R:  Forgetting one of the rings at the house the day of the wedding and having to run back to get it.

Advice for future brides?

K: Rely on your vendors! They can give you fantastic perspective on what works, what doesn’t, and best practices.

R: I highly recommend have a day or two in between the reception and leaving for the honeymoon.  Not booking the honeymoon departure for the very next morning after the reception was an accidental godsend for us and allowed us the relax and recover before the stress of traveling.

Funniest memory?

K:  My sister told a story during her speech as my matron-of-honour that prompted an old boss of mine to explain to her 8-year-old son what ‘circumcision‘ was. I don’t think I laughed harder all night.

R:  Friend/Groomsmen, Jameson claiming to be a terrible dancer… while busting a move on the dance floor.

If you could do it all over would you change anything?

K: No, because I am never planning another wedding again in my life, even if it meant I could change things a bit. Once is MORE than enough!

R:  I would pay a little more attention to what time it was when we first got to the chapel to not have to rush quite as much getting dressed.  Also I would make sure to not forget one of the rings at home and have to run back to to get it.

Secrets Resorts Maroma Beach in Cancun, Mexico. Fantastic place — go there and you 100% won’t regret it!!

Lastly, are there any other vendors that you LOVED and want to give a shout out to?

R: They were all great really. Callahan Catering was fantastic as Leanne was like having a mini event planner with all the help she provided.

K: I second this! Leanne is amazing — Tony Jones was great at keeping the reception organized and flowing — Maike and Meg were wonderful throughout the day, corralling us when necessary (which is 100% necessary when you can’t wear a watch!) — the ladies at Tangles did fantastic jobs with our hair, most especially when we didn’t have a single thought in mind — the coffee drinks from American Espresso, seriously, just hook an IV up to us directly; they’re beyond drool-worthy — Dayla at Lemler Valley Farms could not have provided better-quality flowers — and a HUGE shout-out to family and friends who took it upon themselves for decorations, cupcakes, transportation, stress-relief, and all the rest!!!
