Missy & Mike’s Wedding!

Meet Missy and Mike!  You might remember them from there awesome engagement session in downtown Indianapolis this past spring [you don’t?! CLICK HERE :)].  Mike is studying to be a doctor, and also in the army, Missy is an attorney.  So when they told me their wedding was going to be at the Indiana War Memorial, it seemed to be a GREAT fit.  While I had been in the memorial before, I had never walked around thinking it could be a place to host a wedding ceremony, but for a December wedding, it was PERFECT.  Not only was the ceremony room beautiful, with high ceilings and natural light, but there were so many photographic opportunities inside the building!  Since it was 15* outside when the ceremony started, this was GREAT!

So besides having the ceremony location at a somewhat non-traditional venue, they also had it in the morning [10:30am], with just their family in attendance.  Then, after lunch at the Rathskellar, they took a five hour break before we all met up again for the reception at the Walker Theater.  The reception was wonderful; Missys brother [who I just know as ‘bubba’], sang for the father-daughter dance, they had a great spread of desserts, and we ended the day with one of my FAVORITE images.

Missy and Mike, you guys braved the cold like champs!  It was a ton of fun to be able to tag along and photograph your promise to each other.  Best wishes for the future, wherever it leads you!

~Maike

BRIDE & GROOM Q&A:

Most memorable moment?

Missy: Standing at the altar, holding Mike’s hands and looking into his eyes as we said our vows.

Mike:  The first dance- surrounded by friends and family, with candelight and music, and seeing my beautiful  bride so happy.

Advice for future brides?

Missy: Hire a wedding planner or recruit someone who knows weddings to help you plan.

Mike:  For grooms: Listen to your bride-to-be.

Funniest memory?

Missy: For both Mike and I, we had a lot of laughs with jokes and comments during the toasts.

If you could do it all over would you change anything?

Missy:  I would have slowed down a little more and not allowed myself to get upset by the few things that did not go according to plan (which will unavoidably happen).

Mike: Nope.

Honeymoon?

Yes. We went to Cancun Mexico for a week. Loved it!

Lastly, are there any other vendors that you LOVED and want to give a shout out to?

You, of course. Also our DJ, JT Miner. You both did a great job!
