Stefanie & Dylan Wedding!

July 2, 2014

“Beloved, if God so loved us, we also must love one another.  No one has ever seen God. Yet, if we love one another, God remains in us, and his love is brought to perfection in us.” – 1 John 4:11-12

Last summer, after an awesome engagement session, [where we did half down town South Bend, and half Notre Dame University, since they are both grads, who never met on campus while they were there, but met at an alumni event in Ohio], Stefanie and Dylan officially hired M.Rinaye to photograph their June 2014 Basilica wedding.  And, much like the awesome-ness of their engagement session, their wedding day was GORGEOUS! Seriously.  We were even rained on [both at their engagement session AND on their wedding day], but both of them were so easy going, and were just so happy to be marrying each other!

Stefanie is SOOOO the planner [which, being a planner/scheduler myself, I can ABSOLUTELY appreciate, especially for what can be a crazy wedding day], and Dylan is laid back, and just freakin nice!  My favorite parts of the wedding 1. When we were walking for their bride and groom portraits and Stefanie said something sweet about her husband, and Dylan’s response was “Well that’s cool”. 2. The dance off/when Dylan donned the blonde afro wig and Stefanie brought out all the dance moves! [instead of doing the traditional tossing of the garter and bouquet, they did a dance off, and the best dancer was given the prize of the bouquet/garter <-sooo AWESOME]. 3. Dylan’s tear jerking toast about his love for Stefanie [seriously, my eyes were leaking]. 4. How rocking Stefanie was in that veil!  It lasted the ENTIRE day into the reception [way impressed!]

I LOVED your wedding, Stefanie and Dylan.  Thank you so much for inviting us to be a part of it!  You were awesome to work with and so easy going. I hope our paths cross again!

ps: Special thanks to Alex who second shot with me!  You can see more of his work HERE.

BRIDE & GROOM Q&A:

Most memorable moment?

S: Gazing into each other’s eyes while sitting at the altar and whispering “I Love You” throughout the ceremony. It was unplanned and made for a special moment.

D: When the church doors opened and Stefanie came walking down the aisle. That image will always stay with me. She was more beautiful than I could have ever imagined.

Advice for future brides?

S: Keep it simple. I did one crafty DIY project that was special to me (bride & groom chair decorations).  For the rest, sometimes it is best just to purchase, rent, or delegate. It will save a lot of stress in the end to not try to do everything yourself.

D: Make sure to pause throughout the day and take in all the wonderful moments that seem to fly by. It is the happiest day of your life and you don’t want to get caught up in all the hustle and bustle.

Funniest memory?

S:  Seeing Dylan’s grandmother dancing with my white feather boa from my bachelorette party. Props to Grandma Ruth (no pun intended).

D:  Seeing Stefanie nearly burn the reception place down. It is not a good idea to arm wrestle with young cousins when your centerpieces have floating candles and are susceptible to tipping over!

If you could do it all over would you change anything?

S: If you plan on buying a dress with beading on the back, make sure it doesn’t stick to your veil.  Whenever someone hugged me the veil kept catching on the dress and pulling my hair. You may want to practice hugging before you buy your dress/veil combination.

D:  Don’t be afraid to eat your cake on the dance floor. I was too busy dancing that I only got one bite of cake the whole night!

Honeymoon?

Yes, St. Lucia. It was a beautiful place with great people and lots of things to do. However, we don’t recommend climbing a mountain like we did on your honeymoon. It will only make your legs sore for the rest of the trip. Luckily, there was still a beach to relax on!

Lastly, are there any other vendors that you LOVED and want to give a shout out to?

M. Rinaye, of course! Maike is a very talented photographer and wonderful to work with. Look no further for your photography needs, hire Maike!  If you’re looking for a wedding band, The Whistle Pigs will get your guests on the dance floor guaranteed!  South Bend Country Club, it is a beautiful place and Laurel will make everything go very smoothly for you.

WOW. These are amazing. You are an incredible photographer! And the couple is stunning and planned an awesome wedding. I love these. Especially the one where they are off to the right and the water is behind them? Might be my favorite. All the ones by the water are awesome and the reception shots are just fantastic. Great lighting and technique!
