Megan & Kyle! Elkhart, Indiana Wedding Photography

October 16, 2014

“Once in a while, right in the middle of an ordinary life, love gives us a fairy tale.”

Megan and Kyle’s wedding day was BEAUTIFUL!  Pretty much, just like the two of them.  After a week of rain off and on, and really cold temperatures, followed by beautiful fall days, their wedding ended up on an absolute PERFECT day.

I met up with Megan at her parent’s house, where we took some detail images and then we headed to the church where they chose to experience their wedding ceremony before all the portraits.

My favorite things about this wedding: the AWESOME color combination [seriously, how gorgeous!], the great bridal party [up for anything!], Kyle’s awesome jumps [you probably remember it from their engagement session, but take a look HERE if not], and Megan’s dance with her dad [she was a dancer growing up, and so they danced a slow song first, before busting out some sweet choreographed moves!].

You guys were so lovely to work with!  Thank you so much for inviting me to photograph your wedding!

~Maike

BRIDE & GROOM Q&A:

Most memorable moment?

M: Walking down the aisle to join with Kyle and coming in to the reception.

K:  Exchanging vows & entering the reception.

Advice for future brides/grooms?

M: As hard as it is, try not to sweat the small stuff. Coming from experience, I did it wrong by getting bogged down in the minuscule details that in hind sight were just that. I let all the details drive me crazy, and unfortunately did not feel relaxed even at the rehearsal dinner. When it is all said and done, it’s about the two of you getting married and beginning your life together as a couple.

K: Planning: Start early and keep on it.  Make weekly to-do lists.  Enlist help from those who want to help (i.e. your mothers/grandparents/siblings).
Day-Of: It is your job to keep everyone in order.  Get help from the best man, maid of honor, and key family members to help corral your family and wedding parties.  Make sure everyone knows how much time you have for pictures (we were rushed out of the church due to a later mass).  Wedding stress ended at the start of the reception.  I think that’s pretty typical.

Funniest memory?

M:  No one catching the bouquet the first time.

K:  Younger kid intercepting the garter from the groomsman I was throwing it at (yeah I targeted).

If you could do it all over would you change anything?

M: Yes, we would have had the head table on risers so it was easier to see everyone and for them to see us.

K:  No

Honeymoon?

Not yet, we’re waiting a couple of months.

Lastly, are there any other vendors that you LOVED and want to give a shout out to?

Maike did a great job at getting us through the family and wedding party pictures, especially as we were rushed. She was a lot of fun to work with, and I think that fun will show through in the pictures.

Our DJ (Tony through ProShow) did a great job with the music. He was also accommodating to the things we needed to change at the last minute (song order, announcing speeches, etc) and made us feel at ease leaving the rest of the night to him.
