Julie & Justin! Angola, Indiana Wedding Photography

October 2, 2015
“Oh I’m a lucky man, to count on both hands the ones I love
Some folks just have one, yeah, others, they’ve got none
Stay with me…
Let’s just breathe…” -Pearl Jam

Justin and Julie!

So a few things… 1. Justin is Australian… 2. Julie is originally from Angola, Indiana and graduated from Tri State… 3. They met at a friends wedding in Hawaii.

Every new wedding I shoot becomes my new favorite wedding.

These guys were SO much awesome.  The details, their bridal party, their cute kids, the beautiful day, and of course, the two of them.

Back to my list. 1. Justin being from Australia = most of his groomsmen were also from Australia [and super awesome and nice].  I mentioned that we needed to do some ‘bustling’ after the ceremony [the dress], and one of them was ready be helpful and get ‘bustling’… which he thought meant getting people together, or bustling around or something.  It was a great cultural misunderstanding.  Which makes me wonder what other wedding lingo there is around the world!

2. Julie actually went to college with my husband!!!  [Which I mentioned in their engagement session BLOG].  Now called Trine University [Mackenzie was quick to tell me they were graduates of Tri State, not Trine], a lot of Julie’s friends at the wedding were fellow college friends.  And I actually got to meet some of my husbands fraternity brothers [as a gdi, I hope I go all that lingo right ;)].

Favorite moments from this wedding:  “Champagne makes everything better!” – Julie.  Hayden making a ‘cheesy joke’ when we were luring Cooper with cheese to get a good photo.  8 year old Hayden giving Julie away, and his manly handshake with Justin.  “I promise to chef and barista for you.” – Justin [part of his vows!  I teared up :)].  The lined up friends with beers in both hands, waiting at the end of the aisle after the wedding for the bridal party.  Notes from the ‘mates’ that couldn’t make the wedding [read during the speeches].

You guys were awesome.  I am so glad you found/hired us to photograph your beautiful day!

ps: Mackenzie, if you are reading this, and that whole being employed by Boeing thing doesn’t work out for you, you should TOTALLY pursue wedding co-ordination.  You rocked.

*above, me and Ronald’s fraternity brothers! [who all had amazing stories to tell me about their college days ;)].

Most memorable moment?

Julie: Seeing Justin waiting for me at the alter. And our vows.

Justin: Having Hayden walk Julie down the aisle.

Advice for future brides/grooms?

Julie: Elope

The build up has so much stress and detailed planning but on the day, you’ll be amazed at what can go off plan and you just roll with. Work out what is important, the rest can be left to others.

Funniest memory?

Julie: My veil flying off during the ceremony. I was undecided about wearing one anyway, so having the wind make the choice for me was a bonus.

Our oldest son (6) “breakdancing” for the entire reception.

If you could do it all over would you change anything?

Julie: Splurging for a wedding coordinator. And hire a different limo company.

Probably get a coordinator from the area we were getting married.

4 days in Paris & 4 days in Lyon

Lastly, are there any other vendors that you LOVED and want to give a special shout out to?

Marty Hayward from 6 Autumns did an outstanding job with our very odd 80 person rehearsal dinner!
I think Julie also wanted a special additional note about just how good Erin was to work with on the make-up.
And working with you was fun and amazing! We look forward to seeing the results!
