Leslie & Devin! Indianapolis, Indiana Winter Wedding

January 5, 2016

“I wonder if the snow loves the trees and fields, that it kisses them so gently? And then it covers them up snug, you know, with a white quilt; and perhaps it says “Go to sleep, darlings, till the summer comes again.”  – Lewis Carroll

You met Leslie and Devin on the blog a few months ago for their cold fall engagement session in Indy [there were pumpkins, and some amazing fountain square images ;)].

And right before Christmas Ashley and I photographed their wonderful winter wedding!

While there was no snow [I think we blame El Nino on that?!], there was beautiful decor, and a wonderful warm winter feel [inside at least].

Favorites parts of this wedding: gorgeous color palette, the beautiful hand made center pieces [from Devin, remember, he’s an artist], the cozy beautiful shawl that Leslie wore, and Leslie’s fuzzy red comfy shoes.

You two were so much fun!  I LOVED photographing you during the day, and [despite how cold it was], I am IN LOVE with those downtown images we took!

Thanks so much for inviting us to be part of your wedding day!

~Maike

BRIDE & GROOM Q&A:

Most memorable moment?

L: Honestly, all of it! It was so surreal to be a bride I just was trying to soak it all in. Throughout the night I was taking mental pictures so I wouldn’t forget.

D: I can’t pick just one moment. It was all amazing.

Advice for future brides/grooms?

L: Eat beforehand! I found I wasn’t actually hungry during the reception and hardly ate any food. Don’t fret when someone steps on your dress because inevitably a high heel will punch a hole in it…. :) No need to buy more than one pair of shoes for the wedding (I bought two!).

D: Just enjoy the day and don’t worry about the details.

Funniest memory?

L: My funniest moment was when we were taking pictures downtown after the wedding and a cop wanted to jump into one of our pictures.

D: Watching my dad dance!! He loves a good party!

If you could do it all over would you change anything?

L: I wouldn’t change anything!!

D: The wedding happened just like I planned. Wouldn’t change anything.

Honeymoon?

Yes. We took a short “mini moon” to Bonita Springs and Orlando, Florida. It was great to get away for a few days before Christmas to just decompress. We got to spend a day at Disney World which we both love.

Lastly, are there any other vendors that you LOVED and want to give a special shout out to?

All of our vendors were amazing. Personally from my perspective (the Bride’s), I thoroughly appreciated the calm approach of the planners at Canal 337 & Thomas Caterers. This is their business… planning perfect weddings. They planned our wedding perfectly.
