Dorothy, Nathan & baby Eliana! Lafayette, Indiana Baby Session

April 26, 2016

“Having a baby is a life-changer. It gives you a whole other perspective on why you wake up every day.” Taylor Hanson

I met Dorothy about a year and a half ago, up in South Bend through a church small group we were part of.  She’s pretty awesome.  You know those friendships where you hang out for like, 10 minutes and just KNOW that you like this person?  Ya, that was Dorothy for me.

Since then, I’ve moved down to Indianapolis, and she moved to Lafayette and had a baby!

And despite once saying she never wanted to have kids, she is SOOOOO in love with baby Eliana.  And the same can totally be said about Nathan too.

Funny story, while I was in Lafayette photographing the three of them, Dorothy looks up at me and says something to the effect of, “Nathan’s nickname for her is moochie.  You know, because she’s a moocher off of us!”  Nathan though, gave a weird look and was like, “That’s not why I call her that!!!” and proceeded to tell us that it was for kissing…. smooching…. smoochie… moochie!

And you guys, they are seriously the most adorable loving parents of this little girl.  We photographed her in their apartment, and then we wandered outside a bit by the water [where we also found a goose sitting on her nest of eggs <-so cool].  Having a baby can be crazy town, but they both seem to fit the parenting role so well.

I’m so excited for Eliana Lynn to grow up with such beautiful human beings as her parents!  I’m so glad I was able to come and photograph your new family unit, and that sweet newborn baby [ish; Eliana was one month old in this shoot].

So glad that we’re friends Dorothy!  And Nathan, that pretty much means you’re now in the cool kid club too ;). Excited to watch you parent that sweet baby into a smart little girl and then into a strong woman.

After just having a baby myself, I can’t even begin to say how important these beautiful photos are! That sweet, tiny newborn will be out of that phase so fast, and they will be so happy that they have these images forever. Love them all, especially those sweet details (like her little crossed ankles.)
