Morgan and Michael! Indianapolis, Indiana Engagement Portrait Session

June 14, 2016

“There is only one happiness in this life, to love and be loved.” -George Sand

Meet Morgan and Michael!  If Morgan looks familiar, it’s because she was a bridesmaid for her sister Molly’s wedding last year [don’t remember, HERE ya go].  And now this year Morgan is marrying Michael!  And I could not be happier that they asked me to photograph their wedding.

The day of their engagement images, there were thunderstorms both before our session time and after our session time, and while it made me just a bit nervous, it made our session PERFECT [besides being just a little bit warm].  By the time we started shooting, everything had dried up, but some soft clouds were still hanging out.

We wandered around downtown Indianapolis, and those of you that know anything about Indy, the month of May is pretty much dedicated to racing and the Indy 500 [if you haven’t been, you should totally put it on your bucket list, because it is an experience].  Since the parade was the weekend before their shoot, all the bleachers were still up, and we totally made use of them [also, I heard the Indy 500 Festival Parade is the third largest parade in the country, coming in behind the Macy’s Thanksgiving Day Parade, and the Rose Bowl Parade (which I of course, can’t find any link corroborating this information)].

We apparently all were at the Indy 500 race [and Michael and I might have actually been sitting not to far from each other].  Molly went with her dad, I went with a group of friends, and Michael went with his brother for his bachelor party [which is the BEST IDEA EVER!]

Morgan and Michael are some of the easiest people to get hang out with.  Generally I photograph engagement sessions for about two hours, and those two hours with them FLEW by.  We chatted about life in Indianapolis, how Michael is liking med school, and them growing up in South Bend [Michael asked Morgan to prom with a note that it turns out Morgan STILL has!  I told her she needs to frame it with a photo of prom and a wedding photo some day :)].

You guys, I loved hanging out with you and I LOVE these engagement photographs!  Can’t wait for October to photograph your gorgeous wedding back up in South Bend!

Ahh! This couple is super cute! I’m loving your location ideas. My favorites are that very first one, the hand-holding/walking one, and the one in front of that yellowish/orange wall. Crazy beautiful! Also, you always have the best ideas – framing the prom note! Yes, please!
