Meredith and Jeremy! Lafayette, Indiana Wedding Photography

September 27, 2016

“I felt my lungs inflate with the onrush of scenery—air, mountains, trees, people. I thought, ‘This is what it is to be happy.’” – Sylvia Plath, The Bell Jar

Meredith and Jeremy’s wedding had Ashley and I traveling to Lafayette to shoot at their alma mater, Purdue University!

And you guys, it was gloomy looking initially… like, Ashley and I drove up in huge downpours of rain, and the night before their wedding, the wedding party was hanging out in the basement because of tornado warnings… BUT… miraculously, every single time we had scheduled to go outside and shoot, there was NO RAIN!

Like, every time.  They did a first look and it drizzled a little bit, so we went inside to do some shots, but 10 minutes later, we checked outside, and no rain… then their ceremony came, and it poured outside while we were in Fowler Hall, but then when we were ready to do family images outside immediately after, NO RAIN!

I mean, luckily, even if it had rained, the Union at Purdue isn’t a shabby place to take photographs, but I’m so glad we were able to wander around outside, ‘cause Meredith and Jeremy are self proclaimed nature lovers!

Besides the crazy weather, every other detail of their wedding was beautiful!  Their bridal party was so fun and go-with-the-flow, their reception hall was awesome, and the entire feel of genuine happiness was felt throughout the entire day.  I loved it.

My favorite part of this wedding though… MIGHT have just been the donuts… and while I’m not a donut  connoisseur [or maybe really, I’m a bit of an amateur connoisseur :)]… the best donuts I’ve ever tasted in my life come from northern Indiana… specifically from Rise’n Roll Bakery, which produces an amazingly simple awesome donut called the Cinnamon Carmel Donut [or, “Amish Crack” as the locals call it].  Uhm, you guys.  If you haven’t ever tried it, YOU MUST… also, if you’re trying to get on my good side and want to buy me a gift, in addition to massages, ThredUp and shoe gift cards, Rise’n Roll also sells their donuts from their website.  Just sayin.

But back to Meredith and Jeremy!  They really are the coolest, and we LOVED working with them!  I’m so excited for your adventure in Louisiana you two!  So glad you stumbled onto the M.Rinaye photography website and hired us for your wedding day photography!

Most memorable moment?

Meredith: Reciting our vows to each other, seeing and hearing the weight and meaning of his words to me and mine to him. c.

Jeremy: Our last dance of the evening to Closing Time by Semisonic with all our friends and family circling us as we danced.

Advice for future brides/grooms?

Meredith: Remember the real meaning of the day and put the most time and effort into the ceremony.

Jeremy: Don’t try to do everything yourself on your wedding day. Turn your phone off and ask your friends and family for help.

Funniest memory?

Meredith: Seeing everyone’s awesome dance moves on the floor, mine included.

Jeremy: My father-in-law’s toast. He is typically a man of few words but had quite a few things to say about Meredith at our reception.

If you could do it all over would you change anything?

Meredith: Eat more dessert.

Jeremy: I would have brought our cat, Puddles.

We are taking our honeymoon two weeks after the wedding in St. Lucia. We will be staying on a cocoa plantation in a small cottage in the middle of the rainforest.

Lastly, are there any other vendors that you LOVED and want to give a special shout out to?

Our flowers (Red Fox Flowers), DJ (DJ Connections), and ceremony site (Fowler Hall) were awesome to work with. Required very little time and effort to set up, communication always went smoothly, and extremely friendly to work with.

This wedding is by far one of my favorites you’ve ever blogged. LOVE that BW of the two of them in the church arch. That umbrella pose is adorable, and compositions, lighting- everything! The gorgeous bride looks as though she’s straight out of a bridal magazine. This wedding is so timeless, and I just love all of the emotion these. Fab job, friend! XOXO
