Jade and Mike! Indianapolis, Indiana Wedding

May 29, 2020

I’ll pursue solitary pathways
through the pale twilit meadows,
with only this one dream:You come too.”
-Pathways, by Rainer Maria Rilke

Jade wrote the poem above in her letter to Mike on their wedding day.  I posted Jade and Mike’s proposal back in the fall [HERE ya go].  And their wedding day, was just as stunning, with perfect weather, and a beautiful scene.  I think it’s also super sweet that their proposal was during sunset, and their marriage started with a sunrise.  It’s like the sun setting on one period of their lives and rising to the next phase.

They had big wedding plans for the end of May back home in Virginia, that were postponed [thanks COVID!] until September.  BUT, guys, they were both just so ready to be married to each other.  So they did the thing!

We met up around sunrise, downtown by the river, had a beautiful first look, took amazing portraits, met with friends and walked over the bridge to the spot we’d picked out.  They had a gorgeous ceremony as the sun was coming up over the skyline behind them.  They washed each others feet, promised to love each other, and celebrated with champagne and cheesecake [and at some point a police car drove through our little celebration, that made us all nervous, but just said hey, and kept driving].

We wandered over downtown to get some GORGEOUS shots by the monuments, and then they came back for a socially distant picnic with their friends.

Guys, I most often cry at weddings.  Sometimes if it’s a big wedding or a super short ceremony, I don’t have time to listen because I’m dashing between sides of the church, and focused on being where I need to be for the next moment.  But small intimate weddings… You guys, I just continually drizzled tears out of my eyes [mixed with sweat because it was getting a bit hot].  I love people.  I love love.  I love that Jade and Mike decided to commit their love to each other their original date, even though nothing was what they planned.

So yes, even though Jade didn’t have her original wedding dress, their parents were not able to attend, and they each dressed alone and drove themselves separately downtown, they are now MARRIED!

You guys are so delightful.  I’m so happy to be able to witness your love for each other.  I’m sure your September wedding will be the best party of your life, but I’m so grateful to have been a part of your intimate Indianapolis wedding.

Cheers to love!

~Maike
