Sammi and Dan! Indianapolis, Indiana Engagement Session

June 19, 2020

“When you dance, your purpose is not to get to a certain place on the floor. It’s to enjoy each step along the way.” – Wayne Dyer

Do you guys also have those friends that you’ve sort of just acquired because you know someone and that someone knows them, and then you randomly hang out?  Ya, I’m sure you do.  WELL, that’s how I know Dan and Sammi!

I’m pretty sure I met Dan at an Indy 500 race a few years back when I crashed their plot of land just between the 2nd and 3rd turns, and then we’ve been at random parties together here and there… and then the first time I met Sammi, she was ALSO at the Indy 500 race, and I was like, “Wait!  Who’s that girl with Dan?!?”  Because guys, at my core, I am a thirteen year old girl who wants to know all the details about who’s dating who and if we think they’re a good fit, and if we like him/her.  I’m relationship nosey.

In other news, if you’re friends with Dan, and have never gone to an Indy 500 race, and would like to go and ya know… drink, and have a good time, BUT ALSO learn something about the race… you pretty much MUST go with Dan.  He’s a wealth of knowledge about racing, and all the weird questions you have like, “do they shift with their feet or their hands?” and “do they just hold it for the entire race?  It’s freakishly hot, they have to be sweating and drinking water, right?!?”

BUT, back to their engagement session, EEKKK!!!!  Okay, guys, for summer morning sessions, I know I’m asking you a lot to wake up early, get your life together and look awesome for photos.  I get it.  Most morning sessions, I’m grateful it’s you in front of the camera and not me.  BUT LOOK!  I mean, that lighting, and Sammi’s red hair [sidenote: is Sammi the first red headed bride I’ve photographed?!  I think maybe].

It was a beautiful Indiana morning.  We wandered around the Indianapolis Art Center grounds [go and wander if you’ve never been there; it’s a great Pandemic activity; super easy to socially distance], and then walked into Broad Ripple, which has some new art I’d not yet seen or photographed near!

I’m so excited about photographing their wedding in July!
