Arielle & Andrew! Indianapolis Engagement Photography

This past fall, I photographed Bobby’s sweet proposal to Camille at a local school, the Vision Academy, and it turns out, as a result of those beautiful in school shenanigans, I gained some new followers, one of which is Camille’s colleague Arielle!

And you guys, that school must just be full of amazing wonderful human beings, because Arielle is kind, thoughtful and creative.  And even though Andrew teaches at a different school, he’s not too bad either… so maybe it’s just teachers.  Teachers are awesome!

ANYWAY, after Arielle and Andrew got engaged, she called me up and we set a date for their engagement photos in December.  And, I’ve said it before, but here in Indiana, December is sort of a wild card.  Who knows if it will snow [it did the day after their session], or be sunny and 70* [remember when Indy hosted the Super Bowl?]  And while it was neither of those situations, the images from the day wandering around the canal and downtown are MAGICAL.  Seriously.

The first magic being when we started out at the NCAA Hall of Champions, this very cool museum just off the canal, AND AND AND, where they got engaged!!!!  EEEEKKKK!!!  I love engagement stories.

See, they’re both big basketball fans [Kentucky, as you can see], which means Andrews proposal on the 1930’s retro gym upstairs was PERFECT for them.  SO, of course we did some calling around and arranged for some portraits [and some action shots], to be taken there [thanks Kelly!], and it did not disappoint!

I love taking portraits in general of couples in love, but then add in that extra little thing of ‘this is important to us, can we incorporate it in some way?” and it can make a session so much more meaningful!

Arielle and Andrew, I LOVED working with you!  You guys rocked this cold session, and were so fun to get to know as we wandered around the city.  Best wishes for planning your Illinois wedding next fall!  And any more teacher friends you want to send my way, I’ll welcome them with open arms and beautiful photos!

Cheers!
~Maike

PS: Andrew, I feel like with your fashion sense, I might need to e-mail you outfit ideas for my next personal photoshoot, because your outfits combinations were a 10 ;).
